I bought this to add to a nozzle system controller that merely had a wired ethernet port when I have to wireless.
I bought the refurbished one as these designs have no repositioning parts so they generally either act or don't act and there aren't one motors or repositioning parts in them to go bad.
I entertained the adapter in plain board packaging with a netgear logo on it. It reached with an ethernet cable, enclose power adapter, USB power adapter, a little strip of velcro, and a single instruction expanse. The adapter looked to happen in new condition but that the serial number on the reverse of it had been blacked outdoors (the majority likely at the factory where it happened refurbished in order to keep it after being sold as new).
I already have a Netgear router, which this happened able to click to outdoors of the box by simply pushing the quick click button on the router and the quick click button on the wifi adapter.
If that suited my needs then I would have been done, but I have to to set the adapter up with a static IP address. This is where things got a little more complicated.
In order to click to the device to configure it physically, you need to attach it directly to a computer (not via a router) and open your web browser. I separated the wire on my Windows 7 computer after the network router and plugged it hooked on the adapter, powered on the adapter, waited for the lights on the adapter to come on and turn green, then opened internet explorer and... nothing. The expert didn't come up and it seemed my computer wasn't detecting the adapter.
I happened annoyed that I had a dud and started defeating myself up for buying a refurb.
Then I remembered the number one decide of PC troubleshooting... Solved you reboot your computer?
I restarted my machine and happened very lucky when the link light on the adapter lit up green. This time when I opened internet explorer, the expert popped entitlement up and I happened able to enter the settings I have to to.
I then connected the adapter to the ethernet port on the nozzle system (It's named the Irrigation Caddy if you're curious) with a littler six inch ethernet cable I bought here on Amazon since I'm a clever freak and hate pine wires all over when short ones would do.
As soon as I plugged it in it reached via its normal start up and after a short wait I had three green lights signaling it happened merely and ready.
Bottom line: the adapter works well, the majority people that have a somewhat new router with the quick click button on it won't even have to go hooked on the setup expert on this at all. It works like a champ and if you purchase the refurb one you get it at about semi price.
